The Filare 18 Cabernet Franc 2021 from Tenuta Casadei is a single-varietal red wine from the Alta Maremma in Tuscany and beautifully demonstrates how well this international grape variety has adapted to the Tuscan coast. The estate describes it as a wonderfully aromatic single-varietal red with outstanding structure. According to the producer, the grapes undergo double selection – first in the vineyard and then again on the sorting table to ensure the highest quality. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, this wine particularly benefits from the warm Mediterranean climate and the mineral-rich soils of the Maremma. In the Suvereto area, the variety develops an exceptionally elegant style in which dark fruit, refined spice and freshness come together harmoniously. Along the Tuscan coast, Cabernet Franc often expresses greater finesse and balsamic depth than in traditionally cooler growing regions. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red colour. On the nose, berry fruit and spicy notes dominate, accompanied by delicate herbal nuances. On the palate, the wine is structured, elegant and smooth, with silky tannins, dark fruit flavours and a long, warm, finely spiced finish.
