The Kalterersee Superiore DOC 2025 from Cantina Tramin is a classic red wine from
South Tyrol made from the
indigenous Schiava (Vernatsch) grape variety. The vineyards are located on sunny south- and east-facing slopes between around 230 and 450 metres above sea level
near Lake Caldaro and Tramin. The soils consist mainly of calcareous gravel with clay and sand components, giving the wine an elegant structure and pleasant freshness.
Schiava (Vernatsch) is one of South Tyrol’s historic grape varieties and has shaped the wines of the Lake Caldaro area for centuries. The variety is known for its light colour, gentle tannins and fruity character, resulting in wines that are elegant, approachable and easy to enjoy.
The wine is
traditionally aged in stainless steel tanks and partly in large wooden casks, preserving the freshness and aromatic purity of the grape variety.
In the glass, Kalterersee Superiore 2025 shows a light ruby red colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of red berries, cherry and delicate floral notes, accompanied by a subtle hint of bitter almond. On the palate the wine is soft, fruity and fresh, with gentle tannins and harmonious balance. The finish is juicy and elegant, marked by red fruit and delicate almond nuances.
