The Pinot Bianco Riserva DOC “Itos” 2023 from Ansitz Waldgries Estate is a high-quality white wine from South Tyrol made from the Pinot Bianco grape variety. The grapes come from vineyards around St. Magdalena near Bolzano at about 500 metres above sea level. The soils consist of mineral morainic deposits with sand and clay components, which give the wine structure and a subtle mineral character. The combination of warm sunny days and cool nights allows the grapes to ripen slowly and helps Pinot Bianco develop precise and balanced aromas. The designation Riserva in South Tyrol indicates wines that undergo a longer maturation period and a particularly careful selection of grapes. For the Itos, this means extended ageing in the cellar, which adds depth, complexity and structure. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months on the fine lees, partly in wooden barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks, combining freshness with additional richness and elegance. In the glass, Pinot Bianco Riserva Itos 2023 shows a pale straw-yellow colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe pear, apple and white blossoms, accompanied by delicate spicy and mineral notes. On the palate the wine is elegant, structured and fresh, supported by lively acidity and excellent balance. The finish is long and precise, marked by refined fruit and a clear mineral expression.
