80% Sangiovese & 20% Ciliegiolo
The Umbria Rosso IGT Poggio Belvedere 2021 by Arnaldo Caprai is an elegant and approachable red wine that reflects the character of Umbria in a modern style. The blend consists of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Ciliegiolo, two grape varieties deeply rooted in Central Italy. While Sangiovese gives the wine structure, freshness and precise cherry fruit, Ciliegiolo adds a softer texture, greater fruit richness and harmonious balance. In the rolling hills around Montefalco, this creates a red wine with strong regional identity and excellent drinkability.
The grapes are harvested in the last ten days of September. The wine is aged for four months in stainless steel tanks, followed by at least four months of bottle ageing. This process preserves the freshness of the fruit while allowing the wine to develop elegance and balance. It offers an ageing potential of around three to five years and already shows remarkable expression and harmony in its youth.
In the glass, it displays an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. The bouquet reveals ripe cherries, red berries and delicate spicy notes. On the palate, it is soft, elegant and well-structured, with juicy fruit, gentle tannins and a pleasantly fresh, harmonious finish.
