The St. Magdalener DOC 2025 from St. Michael-Eppan Winery combines South Tyrolean tradition with freshness and elegance in a highly approachable red wine. The grapes come from sun-exposed hillside vineyards around Bolzano, one of the most renowned areas for this historic regional speciality. Warm days and cool mountain breezes encourage balanced ripening while preserving freshness and finesse. Vinification focuses on fruit expression and elegance, allowing the wine’s regional character to remain clearly defined.
St. Magdalener is primarily based on Vernatsch, traditionally complemented by a small percentage of Lagrein. Around Bolzano, Vernatsch has thrived for centuries, developing delicate fruit, soft tannins and remarkable drinkability. Lagrein adds depth, colour and subtle spice while preserving the wine’s refined style.
In the glass, the wine displays a bright ruby red colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of red cherries, violets and delicate almond notes. On the palate, it is fresh and harmonious, with soft tannins, juicy fruit and a balanced, pleasantly persistent finish.
