The Elena Walch estate is one of South Tyrol’s leading family wineries, embodying quality, elegance, and the pure expression of its unique terroir. In the 1980s, former architect Elena Walch brought a visionary spirit to the estate, believing that wine should capture the soul of the soil and the essence of its origin. Today, her daughters Julia and Karoline Walch continue this family tradition into the fifth generation with the same passion and dedication.
The vineyards of Elena Walch stretch across the finest sites between Termeno (Tramin) and Caldaro, including the iconic single vineyard Vigna Castel Ringberg overlooking Lake Caldaro. This 20-hectare estate benefits from an ideal southeast exposure, calcareous and sandy-clay soils, and remarkable day-night temperature shifts. The interplay of Alpine freshness and Mediterranean warmth lends the wines exceptional finesse, depth, and longevity.
The range focuses on both indigenous and international varieties, notably the powerful Lagrein, the elegant Pinot Noir (Blauburgunder), Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc – wines defined by precision, minerality, and balance. Among the highlights are the Pinot Noir “Ludwig”, known for its refined structure and elegance, and the Lagrein Riserva DOC Vigna Castel Ringberg, a deep and characterful red wine from the estate’s flagship vineyard.
