The Cabernet-Merlot DOC Merus 2023 from Tiefenbrunner is a harmonious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, combining international grape varieties with the distinct character of South Tyrol. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red colour with garnet highlights. The bouquet is clear and layered, offering aromas of ripe blackcurrant, cherry and plum, complemented by subtle spicy notes, herbal nuances and a hint of cedarwood. On the palate, Merus is well balanced and structured, with juicy fruit, finely integrated tannins and a lively acidity that provides freshness and elegance. Cabernet contributes depth and spice, while Merlot adds roundness and smoothness to the blend. The finish is medium to long, clean and precise, reflecting a modern, approachable South Tyrolean red wine with international appeal and excellent balance.
