The Barbaresco DOCG 2023 by
Prunotto (
Antinori) is a classically styled Piedmont red and a highly precise expression of the Barbaresco appellation. It is made from
100% Nebbiolo, a late-ripening variety that in this part of the Langhe is known for elegance, fine tannins and aromatic depth. The grapes come from selected areas around
Barbaresco, Treiso and Neive, where limestone-rich soils and favourable exposures play a key role in shaping the wine’s balance and structure.
In the glass, the 2023 shows an intense garnet colour, typical of Nebbiolo. On the nose, it is clear and layered, with notes of red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, supported by floral hints and a finely spiced, lightly balsamic nuance. The profile remains measured and classic, never broad or sweet, but focused and well defined.
On the palate, Barbaresco 2023 is dry, structured and well balanced, driven by lively acidity and elegantly integrated tannins that add length and tension without feeling harsh. Fruit remains present, yet it is clearly guided by the wine’s framework, resulting in a linear, terroir-driven expression. The finish is persistent and finely spiced, showing the signature Nebbiolo texture, with a clean, classic close that suggests strong ageing potential.
The style is completed by careful winemaking with controlled fermentation and ageing in oak barrels of different sizes, bringing fruit and structure together harmoniously without masking the grape’s identity. Overall, this is a Barbaresco that relies not on opulence, but on precision, elegance and a clear sense of origin.
Prunotto is one of Piedmont’s established names, known for a reliable, classically framed interpretation of the Langhe. As
part of the Antinori family, the estate combines tradition with technical precision, while keeping Nebbiolo typicity and the Barbaresco signature at the centre.
