The Vigna Toren Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva is a characterful red wine from South Tyrol, produced by
Tiefenbrunner Estate in Entiklar near Kurtatsch along the South Tyrolean Wine Road. The grapes originate from the
single vineyard “Toren”, located at an altitude of around 270 to 320 meters. The south-facing vineyards grow on sandy clay soils with limestone gravel, which warm quickly during the day and release heat at night, helping the grapes reach optimal ripeness.
The wine is made entirely from
Cabernet Sauvignon. This internationally renowned grape variety is known for producing wines with firm structure, pronounced tannins and excellent ageing potential. For the Toren Riserva, grapes are selected only in vintages with ideal ripeness. After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and undergo around three weeks of maceration during fermentation. The wine then matures
about 12 months in barrique barrels, followed
by several months in stainless steel and
around two years of bottle ageing before release.
In the glass the wine shows a deep garnet-red color. The bouquet reveals spicy notes of tobacco, followed by aromas of blackcurrant and cranberry. On the palate it is powerful and well structured, with fresh acidity and ripe tannins, leading to a long and elegant finish with
remarkable depth and ageing potential.
