The I Cipressi Nizza DOCG 2023 from Michele Chiarlo is an expressive red wine from the heart of Piedmont, reflecting the typical style of Barbera in the prestigious Nizza area. The grapes are sourced from vineyards between Calamandrana and Mombercelli at altitudes of 230 to 280 meters, on sandy soils with limestone and clay components. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with around 10–12 days of skin contact, followed by at least 12 months of ageing in large oak casks and additional bottle ageing. Barbera is one of the most important native grape varieties of Piedmont and in the Nizza DOCG it shows a more structured and elegant style. The combination of terroir and ageing provides depth, freshness and aromatic precision.
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe red fruits, cherry and raspberry, complemented by notes of tobacco and spice. On the palate, it is round and structured, with lively acidity, good freshness and a harmonious finish with a slight savory note.
