Le Cupole 2023 from Tenuta di Trinoro is the estate’s renowned second wine, beautifully expressing the unmistakable style of the property in the Val d’Orcia. The wine comes from younger vines planted in deeper, less extreme soils and is made from the same classic Bordeaux varieties as the flagship Tenuta di Trinoro: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The final blend is carefully adjusted according to the vintage to best reflect the character of the harvest. For 2023, Cabernet Franc and Merlot take center stage.
In the hillside area around Sarteano, these international varieties find exceptional growing conditions. Limestone- and clay-rich soils, combined with a continental microclimate, give Cabernet Franc remarkable aromatic depth, refined spice and freshness, while Merlot contributes richness, softness and generous fruit. The wine is aged in French barriques followed by cement tanks, allowing both structure and terroir expression to remain beautifully precise.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color. The bouquet opens with intense aromas of dark forest berries, ripe cherry and blackberry, accompanied by delicate peppery nuances, balsamic hints and elegant spice. On the palate, the wine is dense and harmonious, with silky tannins, vibrant freshness and a long, layered finish carried by dark fruit and mineral depth.
