The Pinot Noir Riserva DOC Vigna Ganger 2022 from Girlan Winery is an outstanding Pinot Noir from one of Alto Adige’s finest single vineyards. “Vigna Ganger” represents a unique terroir in Mazon, situated between 360 and 380 metres above sea level, shaped by deep clay and limestone soils, an ideal south-facing exposure, and a distinctive microclimate. This exclusive Riserva is the result of meticulous site selection, reduced yields, and traditional yet highly precise winemaking—an expression that brings out the elegance and depth of this demanding grape variety at its very best. The Pinot Noir shows an intense ruby red colour, already hinting at its concentration. The bouquet opens with ripe red fruit, especially cherries and wild berries, complemented by fine spicy notes, subtle marzipan-like nuances, and a delicate mineral touch. The aromatic profile is elegant and nuanced, with a clear structure typical of top Pinot Noir reserves from outstanding sites. On the palate, Vigna Ganger 2022 is powerful yet refined, featuring soft, well-integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, and a beautifully balanced interplay of fruit, spice, and structure. Its finely composed texture and harmonious density lead into a long, precise, and impressive finish, carrying both fruit and mineral accents. This Pinot Noir shows great depth, remarkable elegance, and significant ageing potential. The Vigna Ganger Riserva is a true classic among Alto Adige Pinot Noirs—made for lovers of finely structured, complex red wines with high ambition and lasting quality.
