South Tyrolean Überetsch

The Weißburgunder DOC 2025 from San Paolo Winery is a classic white wine from South Tyrol that clearly expresses the elegance and freshness of this Burgundy variety. The grapes come from vineyards around St. Pauls and the hillside sites of the Überetsch area at altitudes of around 300 to 500 metres. Morainic soils typical of the region retain warmth, while the Alpine climate with strong day-night temperature variations provides excellent conditions for this grape variety. The wine is made from Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder). This grape belongs to the Pinot family and originally developed as a mutation of Pinot Noir. Today it is one of the most important white grape varieties in Central Europe and is particularly valued in South Tyrol for producing wines with refined fruit, clear structure and balanced elegance. At Cantina San Paolo the fermentation takes place slowly and at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve freshness and the varietal aromas. In the glass the wine shows a bright straw-yellow colour. The nose reveals aromas of green apple, pear and peach, accompanied by subtle floral notes. On the palate the Pinot Blanc is juicy and precise, with lively freshness and a delicate mineral touch. The finish is harmonious and elegant.
