The Pinot Noir IGT 2024 from Spitalerhof grows on the steep sunny slopes around Chiusa in the Eisack Valley at elevations between 500 and 550 metres above sea level. Mineral-rich soils of schist and diorite, combined with the strong temperature differences between warm days and cool nights, give the wine freshness, elegance and a precise aromatic profile. In the Eisack Valley, Pinot Noir is considered one of South Tyrol’s most exciting red grape varieties, as the alpine climate allows particularly refined and expressive wines to develop. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully processed to preserve the authentic character of both the variety and its origin.
In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby-red colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of red and dark berries, accompanied by subtle spicy nuances and delicate violet notes. On the palate, the Pinot Noir is smooth and juicy, with soft tannins, lively freshness and delicate hints of oak from ageing on the fine lees in barrique barrels. The finish is elegant, balanced and marked by fine minerality.
