The Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge 1er Cru “Morgeot” 2024 from Lamy-Pillot is a precise Premier Cru red wine from the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. The grapes come from the renowned Morgeot climat, one of the most important Premier Cru sites in the appellation, characterized by clay-limestone marl soils and generally southeast-facing exposures. Vinification follows a traditional Burgundian approach with fermentation on the skins, followed by ageing in French oak barrels for around 12 months. A moderate proportion of new oak supports structure without overpowering the fruit character. Pinot Noir is the key grape variety for red wines in Chassagne-Montrachet and here expresses a balance of finesse, structure and minerality. In Morgeot, wines tend to be slightly more structured and accessible compared to other parcels, with good ageing potential. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals aromas of red fruits, cherry and delicate spice. On the palate, it is juicy and balanced, with fine tannins, elegant structure and a long, harmonious finish.
