The Viré-Clessé “Quintaine” 2023 from Domaine Guillemot-Michel originates from the Mâconnais in Burgundy and is a benchmark example of this relatively young appellation. The cuvée comes from parcels around Quintaine and is traditionally vinified in concrete tanks, allowing both terroir and vintage to shine through clearly. The 2023 vintage stands out for its excellent balance between ripeness and freshness, resulting in a harmonious and well-structured wine.
Made from 100% Chardonnay, the only permitted grape variety in Viré-Clessé, this wine reflects a distinctive regional style. Here, Chardonnay is typically less opulent than in other parts of Burgundy, shaped instead by limestone soils that bring precision, tension and a pronounced mineral character.
Production follows a nature-focused philosophy: hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and ageing on fine lees in concrete tanks enhance purity and texture.
The wine is also certified organic, underlining its authentic expression of terroir.
In the glass, it shows a clear and precise profile: aromas of yellow fruit, citrus and white flowers, complemented by subtle mineral notes. On the palate, it is both generous and fresh, with lively acidity, a saline length and an elegant, structured finish.
