Pföstl Winery, located in Schenna near Merano, is one of South Tyrol’s most promising family-run wine estates, combining tradition, friendship, and a passion for distinctive wines. The winery was founded by Stefan Pföstl and Georg Weger, lifelong friends who turned their shared dream of producing wine into a successful venture. While Georg Weger, a trained winemaker and oenologist, oversees the vineyards and cellar operations, Stefan Pföstl manages sales, marketing, and business development.
One of the winery’s greatest strengths is its diverse vineyard portfolio. The estate cultivates vineyards in Schenna, Merano, Lana, and Gleno, where varying elevations, soil compositions, and microclimates create ideal conditions for producing wines with unique character and a strong sense of place.
The portfolio includes many of South Tyrol’s most renowned grape varieties, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Schiava, Lagrein, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The range is complemented by traditional-method sparkling wines and selected specialty bottlings.
The wines are divided into two main collections. The Estate Line showcases the authentic expression of each grape variety and its origin, highlighting the diversity of South Tyrolean terroirs.
The premium “Valpitan” Collection represents the winery’s finest selections. Named after the historic area surrounding the cellar, Valpitan stands for carefully selected grapes, exceptional quality, and wines with remarkable ageing potential.
Through the combination of diverse vineyard sites, meticulous craftsmanship, and an uncompromising commitment to quality, Pföstl Winery has established itself as a respected producer in the Merano wine region, creating authentic South Tyrolean wines with character, elegance, and a strong connection to their origin.
