Klosterhof Winery in Caldaro is one of South Tyrol’s distinctive family-run estates, where tradition, craftsmanship and a strong connection to the land remain at the heart of its philosophy. The Andergassen family has been involved in viticulture for generations and today cultivates around five hectares of vineyards across several sites surrounding Caldaro. The vineyards are located between 350 and 530 metres above sea level and benefit from calcareous moraine and gravel soils, which contribute remarkable minerality and a clear sense of terroir to the wines.
Since 1999, the grapes have not only been grown on the estate but have also been vinified and bottled entirely in-house. The family follows a nature-oriented approach, relying heavily on manual work, careful grape selection and gentle processing. Chemical fertilisers, intensive vineyard interventions and artificial irrigation are kept to a minimum in order to preserve the unique character of each vineyard site.
Klosterhof is particularly known for its Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir wines, as well as its traditional Kalterersee, which is based on the native Schiava (Vernatsch) grape variety. The portfolio also includes Yellow Muscat, Merlot and a fruit-driven Pinot Noir Rosé. The estate’s Riserva wines hold a special position, produced only in limited quantities and reflecting its commitment to quality. Depending on the style, the wines mature in barriques, acacia barrels or other wooden casks, gaining additional complexity, depth and elegance.
