The Pinot Grigio DOC Soll 2024 from Kaltern Winery is an expressive and layered white wine from the renowned South Tyrolean wine region. It is made exclusively from 100 % Pinot Grigio, a widely grown and versatile white grape in the area, which develops intense fruit aromas in warm days and cool nights while maintaining balanced acidity. In the glass, the Soll shows a pale straw-yellow color with delicate highlights, reflecting optimal ripeness and careful vinification. On the nose, it reveals an enticing bouquet of ripe pears, melon, and subtle nutty notes, complemented by a hint of vanilla and characteristic Pinot Grigio fruitiness. On the palate, it is round, elegant, and smooth, with juicy fruit, lively acidity, and a long, harmonious finish with subtle woody nuances from aging. The vineyards for the Soll are located on northeast-facing slopes at 250–300 m, where warm days and cool nights provide ideal conditions for grape ripening. Production involves gentle whole-cluster pressing and controlled fermentation, followed by several months on fine lees, giving the wine added depth and complexity.
