The Pinot Noir Riserva Select DOC 2022 from Hans Rottensteiner is an expressive South Tyrolean red wine that combines elegance, depth, and a strong sense of origin at the highest level. The grapes come from selected premium vineyard sites around Bolzano, where cool nights, sunny days, and constant air circulation create ideal conditions for this demanding grape variety. South Tyrol has long been regarded as one of the most renowned Pinot Noir regions outside Burgundy. The Riserva designation indicates a longer ageing period and a higher quality level. In this wine, it primarily means greater structure, more complexity, and significant ageing potential. Within the Select line, it is considered one of the winery’s flagship wines. The wine is aged for around one year in small French barriques, with a deliberately restrained use of oak to highlight both the grape variety and the terroir. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red colour. The nose reveals aromas of cherry, raspberry, and sour cherry, accompanied by delicate floral nuances and an elegant hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied, velvety, and precisely structured, with fine tannins, beautiful fruit depth, and a long, elegant finish.
