The White Blend "Breisgau" 2023 from
Bernhard Huber is a precise yet Burgundy-inspired white blend from the Baden region of Breisgau. The blend consists of
50% Pinot Blanc and 50% Pinot Gris, two grape varieties that beautifully reflect the profile of this region. On the calcareous shell limestone and loess soils around Malterdingen, both varieties develop an impressive balance of freshness, structure and mineral tension. While Pinot Blanc brings elegance, clarity and fine fruit, Pinot Gris adds extra texture, riper yellow fruit and a creamy mouthfeel.
The wine is aged predominantly in
barrique,
mostly in used Burgundy oak barrels, which gives it added depth and a delicate oak spice that never dominates. In the glass, it shows a pale straw yellow with a slight golden shimmer. On the nose, it reveals yellow apple, white stone fruit, pear, fine almond and subtle smoky mineral notes of flint. On the palate, it is both taut and juicy, with precise acidity, fine texture, cool minerality and a long, clear finish.
