Kalterersee Klassisch DOC Leuchtenberg
The Kalterersee Classico Superiore DOC Leuchtenberg 2024 from Kaltern Winery is an elegant red wine from South Tyrol, beautifully expressing the characteristic lightness and fruity personality of the Vernatsch grape variety. The grapes come from vineyards surrounding Lake Kaltern, whose warming influence creates ideal conditions for viticulture. The vines grow on sandy-clay soils with limestone gravel, contributing to the distinctive character of this historic wine-growing region. Following temperature-controlled fermentation on the skins and malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for four months on its fine lees in stainless steel and concrete tanks. It pairs beautifully with traditional South Tyrolean specialities, speck, cheese and white meats. In the glass, it displays a brilliant cherry-red colour. Its inviting bouquet reveals aromas of red berries and delicate floral notes of violet. On the palate, it impresses with juicy fruit flavours, pleasant richness and a balanced structure. A subtle hint of bitter almond adds a harmonious touch to its smooth finish.
