This Alto Adige Pinot Noir DOC 2025 from Plonerhof comes from the steep slopes of Marlengo, near Merano. The vines grow on hillsides with gradients of up to 30–40% and benefit from exposure to the morning sun. Granite, schist and gneiss, mixed with sandy loam, shape the soils and give the wine a clear, mineral foundation. Plonerhof follows a nature-oriented approach, working without chemical fertilisers or herbicides; yields are deliberately reduced to bring concentration and elegance to the grapes. The wine is aged in both small and large oak barrels, which support the fruit without overshadowing it. At the table, it pairs especially well with game, steak, mature cheese, speck and a hearty South Tyrolean snack board.
In the glass, it shows a ruby-red colour with garnet reflections. The nose recalls cherries, ripe wild berries and raspberries, complemented by a delicate spicy note and a hint of toasted aromas. On the palate, it is velvety, round and harmonious, with soft, polished tannins, fine fullness and an elegant, characterful finish.
