The Chardonnay DOC 2025 by Hans Rottensteiner clearly shows how authentically this international grape variety can express itself in South Tyrol. Grown in hillside vineyards around Bolzano on sandy, loamy porphyry soils, it develops a well-defined structure and a distinct mineral character. Once often seen as a “yellow Pinot Blanc” style, Chardonnay here has evolved into a wine with its own identity, combining freshness and elegance. The grapes come from vineyards located between 450 and 600 meters above sea level.

The Pergola and Guyot training systems ensure balanced vine development and even ripening. Aging in stainless steel preserves varietal purity, while controlled fermentation and partial malolactic fermentation add balance and expression. In the glass, it shows good body and refined elegance. On the nose, delicate fruit notes of peach emerge. On the palate, it combines lively freshness with a harmonious structure and subtle minerality, leading to a pleasant finish.
