The Sauvignon DOC Mediaevum 2025 from Gumphof by Markus Prackwieser beautifully expresses the Alpine style of the Eisack Valley and is among the estate’s most distinctive white wines. The grapes come from steep vineyards around Völs am Schlern and the southern Eisack Valley, where calcareous moraine soils, quartz porphyry and strong day-to-night temperature variations create ideal conditions for precise and aromatic Sauvignon wines. Cool nights preserve freshness and aromatic intensity, while sunny days ensure ripeness and structure.

Sauvignon Blanc has become one of South Tyrol’s most exciting white grape varieties, especially in higher-altitude vineyards. In the Eisack Valley, it often results in elegant and finely mineral wines with clear fruit and vibrant tension. With Mediaevum, Gumphof combines freshness, precision and a strong sense of origin. The name of the line reflects the estate’s historical roots and underlines its focus on wines with regional identity. In the glass, Mediaevum 2025 appears fresh and layered. The nose reveals citrus notes, gooseberry, white flowers and delicate herbal hints. On the palate, the Sauvignon is precise, juicy and elegant, supported by lively acidity, mineral tension and a long, refreshing finish.
