Krug Brut Grande Cuvée No. 173 is an exceptional Champagne for anyone seeking depth, precision and remarkable aromatic richness. The 173rd Edition was composed around the 2017 harvest and brings together 150 wines from 13 different years; the youngest wine is from 2017, while the oldest dates back to 2001. A share of 31% reserve wines gives the cuvée additional breadth, roundness and complexity. The grape varieties are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier, with a final blend of 44% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay and 22% Meunier.
This Champagne reflects the great art of blending: its character is not shaped by a single vintage, but by the interplay of many wines that together create expression, depth and harmony. More than 20 years of careful work were needed to bring this edition to its full expression. An impressive Champagne for special moments, fine dining and memorable occasions.
In the glass, it shows an intense golden yellow. The nose is powerful, fragrant and multi-layered, with notes of toast, brioche, stone fruit, verbena, vanilla cream, French toast and Baba au Rhum. On the palate, it is creamy, generous and precise, with juicy fruit, peach in syrup, ripe citrus, toasted notes, pine nuts and a fresh, lemony finish.
