The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Castel Giocondo 2019 is a distinguished classic from one of Tuscany’s most prestigious appellations, Montalcino. It is produced exclusively from Sangiovese (Sangiovese Grosso), grown across the diverse terroirs of Castel Giocondo, where a wide range of soils—including galestro, clay and Pliocene sands—contribute to remarkable complexity and depth. This diversity, combined with varying exposures, gives the wine the structure, balance and aromatic richness that define great Brunello di Montalcino, along with excellent ageing potential. Careful hand harvesting, extended maceration and long ageing in oak ensure the 2019 vintage achieves impressive harmony, elegance and longevity. In the glass, Castel Giocondo 2019 displays an intense, brilliant ruby-red colour, reflecting both concentration and maturity. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet with pronounced notes of dark berries such as blackberry and sour cherry, complemented by floral hints of violet and wild rose, as well as spicy nuances of nutmeg, pepper and refined tobacco. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet refined, showing dense, well-structured tannins, vibrant acidity and a subtle mineral freshness that leads to a long, persistent finish. A Brunello of great character, representing a compelling expression of Tuscan winemaking tradition.
