The Amistar White Cuvée 2024 from Peter Sölva & Söhne is a distinctive South Tyrolean white blend made from 80% Chardonnay and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes come from two sites at markedly different elevations: the Chardonnay grows in the Sparapan vineyard near Lake Kaltern at 224 metres, while the Sauvignon Blanc comes from Eppan Berg at around 600 metres. Sandy, gravelly, clay-rich and calcareous soils provide the foundation for richness, tension and a precise mineral character. The two grape varieties are vinified separately. After a brief period of skin contact and gentle pressing, the must clarifies naturally. The Chardonnay ferments at a low temperature in barriques, while the Sauvignon Blanc is matured mainly in stainless-steel tanks and remains on its fine lees. Only afterwards are the individual components blended. The result is a complex and distinctive white wine that combines the depth of oak ageing with clearly defined freshness. In the glass, it displays a brilliant straw-yellow colour. The bouquet recalls apple, apricot and a delicate hint of sage. On the palate, it is fresh, mineral and complex, with pleasant acidity, harmonious richness and a long, elegant finish.
