Weingut Kiemberger: Hauptstraße 21, 39018 Terlan (IT)
The Himmelstor 2020 from Kiemberger is an expressive Pinot Noir from South Tyrol that beautifully reflects its Alpine origin and the terroir around Terlan. This grape variety is considered one of the most elegant red wines of the region and particularly benefits from the significant temperature differences between warm days and cool nights. These conditions promote precise fruit expression, vibrant acidity, and a refined structure, all characteristic of high-quality Blauburgunder from this area.
With the 2020 vintage, Kiemberger presents a wine of remarkable depth and finesse. The ageing process enhances the varietal character without overshadowing the sense of place, adding further complexity and a pleasing length on the palate.
In the glass, the wine shows an intense ruby red colour. On the nose, it reveals fine spicy and slightly smoky notes, accompanied by hints of ripe berries, tobacco, and earthy nuances. On the palate, it offers ripe fruit, subtle nut and tobacco aromas, and velvety, well-integrated tannins. The finish is spicy, mineral, and long-lasting, with an elegant saline touch.
