The Gewürztraminer Spätlese IGT “Marie” 2021 from Kiemberger is an expressive sweet wine from South Tyrol, originating from the St. Nikolaus area. The grapes are harvested late and partly affected by noble rot, resulting in high concentration and aromatic depth. The term Spätlese refers to a late harvest of fully ripe grapes, giving the wine greater sweetness, complexity and intensity. Gewürztraminer is one of South Tyrol’s most important grape varieties and thrives particularly in the Terlan area and the southern part of the region. Here, it develops intense aromatics and a rich structure, making it especially suitable for sweet wine styles. Vinification includes traditional pressing followed by fermentation in stainless steel to preserve aromatic purity. In the glass, it shows a light amber colour. The nose reveals aromas of candied citrus, lychee and dried apricot. On the palate, it is sweet and complex, with floral and dried fruit notes, supported by fine acidity and a long, elegant finish.
