The Pinot Noir Riserva DOC Pinzon 2023 from Peter Zemmer is an elegant South Tyrolean red wine from the renowned Pinzon area near Montan. The vineyards are located at around 500 meters above sea level on calcareous soils with clay and humus components. The unique microclimate, with northwest exposure, long evening sun hours and significant day-night temperature variations, provides ideal ripening conditions. The warm “Ora” wind from Lake Garda further supports grape health and aromatic development. After hand harvesting, the grapes are carefully destemmed and fermented at controlled temperatures of around 22–25 °C in cement tanks. Regular pumping over and punch-downs ensure optimal skin contact during fermentation. The wine is then aged for about 12 months in French oak barriques, followed by further refinement in stainless steel and bottle. This extended aging defines the “Riserva” designation, adding depth and structure. Pinot Noir is one of the most elegant grape varieties, known for its finesse, delicate fruit and balanced structure. In the glass, it shows a bright and intense ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of red berries, wild cherry and subtle balsamic and spicy notes emerge. On the palate, it is complex, smooth and harmonious, with elegant structure and a long finish.
