The Sylvaner “R” from Köfererhof comes from South Tyrol's Eisack Valley and is one of the estate's most expressive white wines. The vineyards are located near Novacella, at an altitude of approximately 700 metres, where the Alpine climate, with warm days, cool nights and pronounced temperature differences, encourages slow grape ripening. The south-facing slopes, characterised by sandy and gravelly moraine soils, contribute to the wine's distinctive character.
This Sylvaner is made from grapes grown on older vines, which give the wine additional depth and structure. Following careful hand harvesting, fermentation takes place in large wooden barrels. The wine then matures for several months on fine lees, developing complexity and a harmonious texture. The combination of Alpine freshness and powerful structure makes this Sylvaner a distinctive expression of its origin.
In the glass, it displays a brilliant straw-yellow colour with greenish reflections. The bouquet combines aromas of white-fleshed fruits, plum, kiwi and delicate floral notes. On the palate, it is complex, full-bodied and pleasantly fresh, with pronounced minerality, refined saline notes and a long, elegant finish.
