The Riesling Saar 2024 from Van Volxem is a precise and highly expressive white wine that beautifully reflects the unmistakable character of the Saar region. The vines grow on steep slate slopes around Wiltingen, where poor Devonian slate and greywacke soils give the wine its signature minerality and refined saline tension. In the Saar, Riesling develops an exceptional balance of freshness, elegance and aromatic precision thanks to the cool climate and long ripening period. Selective hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts and extended ageing on fine lees highlight the wine’s terroir-driven style. In the glass, it shows a bright straw-yellow colour with brilliant reflections. The bouquet reveals delicate aromas of apricot, vineyard peach and citrus fruit, accompanied by subtle exotic nuances. On the palate it is fresh, juicy and precise, supported by delicate acidity, pronounced slate minerality and a long, clean finish with elegant saline notes.
