The Gewürztraminer Passito Cresta 2022 from Hans Rottensteiner is a distinctive sweet wine from South Tyrol, made from grapes grown at the family's Kristplonerhof vineyard in Guntschna, near Bolzano. The name “Cresta” refers to the historic vineyard name “cresta piana”, from which the name Kristploner later developed. First produced in 1999, this wine has since become an established part of the winery's collection.
The wine is made using the traditional Passito method. Only carefully selected, healthy Gewürztraminer grapes are used. After harvesting, the grapes are dried on racks for approximately five months before pressing. This drying process naturally concentrates the compounds found in the grapes.
In the glass, Cresta displays a beautiful golden-yellow colour. Its bouquet reveals aromas of orange peel, honey and dried fruit. On the palate, it is pleasantly sweet and aromatic. It pairs particularly well with desserts and intensely flavoured blue cheeses such as Gorgonzola or Roquefort.
