The Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2023 from Jean-Claude Boisset is one of the great red wines of the Côte de Nuits, originating from one of the most prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in Morey-Saint-Denis, Burgundy. Its limestone- and stone-rich soils, which inspired the vineyard’s name, provide the foundation for wines of remarkable depth, structure and longevity. Jean-Claude Boisset’s philosophy is to express the terroir as faithfully as possible: the grapes are carefully selected and gently vinified before the wine is aged for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, with a deliberately limited proportion of new oak. This approach allows the elegance of Pinot Noir and the identity of the vineyard to remain at the forefront. The 2023 vintage combines ripe fruit with freshness and outstanding balance, creating a wine that is already harmonious while offering exceptional ageing potential.


In the glass, it displays an intense ruby-red colour. The bouquet reveals remarkable complexity with aromas of black and red fruits, complemented by floral notes of peony and violet, together with delicate hints of black pepper and spice. On the palate, it is powerful yet exceptionally elegant, featuring fine, well-defined tannins, vibrant freshness and precise minerality. Its extraordinarily long and layered finish highlights the Grand Cru character of this outstanding Burgundy.
