The Zweigelt Z IGT 2025 from
Eisacktal Winery is a characterful red wine that clearly shows how beautifully this Austrian grape variety performs in the higher-altitude vineyards of South Tyrol’s Eisack Valley.
Zweigelt, a
crossing of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, thrives in the region’s cool climate and vineyards located between 500 and 700 metres above sea level, where it develops a particularly fresh, fruit-driven, and elegant profile. Thanks to its excellent suitability for higher elevations, this variety has firmly established itself in the local wine landscape.
The carefully selected grapes undergo traditional maceration at controlled temperature in stainless steel, followed by malolactic fermentation and
ageing on the fine lees in large wooden casks. This process preserves the wine’s youthful and fruity character while adding further depth and structure.
In the glass, it displays a bright garnet-red colour. On the nose, clear aromas of cherry and forest berries unfold. On the palate, the wine is fresh and mineral, with soft, gently earthy tannins and a harmonious, pleasantly fruit-driven finish.
