The Sauvignon Graßnitzberg Riff Erste Lage STK Organic 2020 from Tement is a distinctive white wine from Southern Styria, renowned for its pronounced minerality, finesse and elegance. The grapes come from the prestigious Ried Graßnitzberg vineyard, where poor coral limestone soils and a cool microclimate shape the unmistakable character of this Sauvignon Blanc.
The Erste STK Lage classification identifies particularly high-quality vineyard sites in Styria that express their unique origin and terroir. The organically cultivated vines grow on loose brown soils over coral limestone, with the grapes' late ripening contributing exceptional aromatic depth. Following spontaneous fermentation, the wine matures for 24 months on its fine lees in large oak barrels before being bottled without filtration. This gentle winemaking approach enhances its complexity and considerable ageing potential.
In the glass, it displays a pale greenish-yellow colour with silvery reflections. The elegant bouquet combines citrus fruits, blackcurrants and apricots with delicate herbal notes and mineral spice. On the palate, this Sauvignon Blanc is taut and precise, offering lively acidity, juicy fruit and subtle salinity. A long, fresh and mineral-driven finish completes the tasting experience.
