The Barbera d’Asti DOCG Superiore Nizza Bansella 2023 from Prunotto (Antinori) comes from the renowned Nizza area in Piedmont, considered one of the finest terroirs for the Barbera grape. The vineyards are characterized by sandy and silty soils, enhancing the freshness and aromatic expression of the grapes. Harvesting takes place by hand in September, selecting only perfectly ripe fruit. After gentle processing, the grapes are destemmed and softly pressed. Fermentation occurs at controlled temperatures with around six days of maceration to extract color, structure and aromas. The wine then undergoes both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and is aged for approximately 12 months in barriques before further refinement in bottle. Barbera is one of Piedmont’s most important grape varieties, known for its intense fruit, vibrant acidity and juicy structure. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of plum, violet, cocoa and licorice emerge. On the palate, it is full, harmonious and smooth, supported by fresh acidity, with a long and elegant finish.
