The Barbera d'Alba DOC Pian Romualdo 2023 from Prunotto (Antinori) comes from vineyards around Monforte d’Alba in the heart of Piedmont. The Barbera grape finds ideal conditions here, with significant temperature differences between day and night, promoting freshness, aromatic precision and excellent ripening potential. This wine has been produced from these vineyards since 1961 and represents a particularly expressive interpretation of Barbera. After the harvest at the end of September, the grapes are destemmed and gently processed. Fermentation on the skins lasts about 6–7 days at controlled temperatures, followed by malolactic fermentation before winter. The wine is then aged for approximately 16 months, gaining additional structure and complexity. Barbera is one of Piedmont’s most important grape varieties, known for its intense fruit, vibrant acidity and juicy style. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of blackberry, cherry and strawberry emerge, accompanied by notes of red fruit jam and delicate spice nuances such as cinnamon, vanilla and green pepper. On the palate, it is balanced and full, supported by Barbera’s characteristic freshness and a harmonious, persistent finish.
