The Pinot Noir DOC Graf von Meran 2023 from Merano Winery comes from selected vineyards around Merano, including Lagundo, Tirolo and Lana, at altitudes up to around 600 meters. The light, well-drained moraine soils combined with the alpine climate and strong day-night temperature differences create ideal conditions for this demanding grape variety. Pinot Noir is one of the most delicate grape varieties in the world and requires great precision both in the vineyard and in the cellar. In South Tyrol, it performs best in cooler sites, where it develops a fine balance between fruit, freshness and structure. The Graf von Meran line represents a higher quality selection, based on carefully selected grapes and precise vinification. After temperature-controlled fermentation and malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for several months in used barriques and small oak casks, gaining complexity. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of red berries such as cherry and raspberry emerge, accompanied by subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is elegant and balanced, with well-integrated tannins, fine structure and a soft, persistent finish.
