The Chardonnay DOC Graf von Meran 2024 from Meran Winery comes from selected vineyards located in Marlengo, Lana and Cermes at altitudes between 400 and 550 meters. The porous, gravel-rich soils combined with sandy and slightly loamy components give the wine its structure and minerality. The vines, aged between 10 and 30 years, provide concentrated, high-quality grapes. Chardonnay is one of the most important international grape varieties in South Tyrol and has been established in the region since the 19th century. In the warmer areas around Merano, it develops a fruit-driven yet structured style, supported by the freshness of the alpine climate. The "Graf von Meran" line represents the winery’s higher quality tier, focusing on careful grape selection and precise vinification. Fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in large oak casks, with partial malolactic fermentation and ageing on fine lees to enhance balance and complexity. In the glass, it shows a bright greenish-yellow color. On the nose, aromas of pineapple and banana appear, complemented by subtle citrus notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and balanced, with well-integrated acidity and a persistent, harmonious finish.
