The St. Magdalener DOC Rieser 2025 from Nals Margreid authentically reflects the red wine tradition of the Bolzano area. The St. Magdalena appellation is one of Alto Adige’s most renowned regions for this wine style, shaped by sunny hillside vineyards and mineral-rich soils that create elegant, fruit-driven red wines. As is typical for St. Magdalener, Rieser is made primarily from Schiava, complemented by a small proportion of Lagrein. Around Bolzano, Schiava develops a particularly refined, juicy and elegant expression, while Lagrein adds additional structure and depth to the wine.
The grapes come from carefully cultivated vineyards and are gently processed to preserve the authentic character of the region. The result is a red wine that harmoniously combines tradition with exceptional drinkability.
In the glass, the wine shines with a bright ruby-red colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of red cherries, violet and delicate almond notes. On the palate, the St. Magdalener is soft, juicy and balanced, with a gentle structure, lively freshness and a pleasantly fruity finish.
