St. Magdalener Klassisch DOC Vigna Premstallerhof
The St. Magdalener Vigna Premstallerhof 2025 from Hans Rottensteiner comes from the single vineyard Premstallerhof in St. Magdalena near Bolzano. Since the 2016 vintage, the wine has carried the designation “Vigna”, which refers to a registered and clearly defined vineyard site. The Premstallerhof has been cultivated according to biodynamic principles for many years and features sandy porphyry soils, with the vines traditionally trained on pergolas. The blend consists of 93% Schiava and 7% Lagrein. After fermentation, part of the wine is matured in wooden barrels. The high proportion of Schiava shapes its elegant and approachable character, while Lagrein adds further depth to the blend. Thanks to its versatile style, this St. Magdalener pairs particularly well with starters, meat dishes, game and flavourful cheeses. In the glass, the wine shows a dark ruby-red colour. Its delicate bouquet recalls violets and ripe cherries. On the palate, it is full and harmonious, with pleasantly soft tannins, a subtle mineral character and a remarkably persistent finish.
