The Schiava IGT Amphorise Projekt XXX 2023 from
Caldaro Winery is part of the innovative “Projekt XXX” line, representing
experimental, limited wines with a distinctive character. The name stands for “
explore, experiment, exclusive” and reflects the aim of exploring new paths and reinterpreting traditional styles.
Schiava is one of the most historic and important native grape varieties of South Tyrol, deeply rooted in the Kaltern area. In this project, it is expressed in a modern and distinctive way while preserving its regional identity.
The grapes come from selected vineyards
around Lake Kaltern, including
an old pergola vineyard with vines over 100 years old as well as younger sites. The soils of calcareous gravel with sandy components and the sunny exposure ensure optimal ripening conditions.
Vinification includes fermentation on the skins followed by malolactic fermentation and several months of ageing on fine lees.
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of ripe cherry and red berries emerge, accompanied by subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is elegant and juicy, with soft tannins, good structure and a long, harmonious finish.
