The Merlot Ywain IGT 2024 from Loacker Estate is an organic and biodynamic red wine that combines the elegance of Merlot with the distinctive character of South Tyrol. The grapes are sourced from carefully managed vineyards around Bolzano and are harvested entirely by hand. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts is followed by approximately twelve months of aging, primarily in used barriques and partly in new oak barrels, giving the wine depth and complexity while preserving its freshness and varietal identity. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby-red color. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe cherries and dark berries, complemented by hints of juniper and delicate spicy nuances. On the palate, it is harmonious and well-balanced, featuring velvety tannins, lively freshness, and an elegant structure. Subtle oak notes support the fruit character, leading to a long, expressive finish with remarkable aging potential.
