The Stoan Alto Adige DOC 2024 from Cantina Tramin is an exceptional South Tyrolean white blend made from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc and Gewürztraminer. Chardonnay forms the foundation at 65%, complemented by 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Pinot Blanc and 5% Gewürztraminer. The vines grow above 400 metres, mainly between 500 and 600 metres, on stony soils rich in limestone and clay. Sunny, Mediterranean-influenced days and cool descending winds from the surrounding mountains create pronounced temperature differences, encouraging a precise and complex style.
The grapes are harvested between late September and mid-October, delivered in small containers and gently pressed immediately. The must ferments slowly at a controlled temperature in large wooden casks, with a portion undergoing malolactic fermentation. The individual varieties then mature on their fine lees in wood until the end of August. After blending, the wine rests in bottle for at least another three months. The result is a distinctive white wine with impressive depth, balance and excellent ageing potential.
In the glass, it shines a bright golden yellow. The bouquet combines peach, apricot, pear, elderflower, kumquat, jasmine and mimosa with delicate spicy notes. On the palate, flavours of pineapple, banana, pear and citrus peel are joined by subtle herbal nuances. Saline minerality, harmonious richness and a long, creamy finish make this wine especially expressive.
