The Chardonnay DOC Festival 2025 from Cantina Merano combines the versatility of this international grape variety with the distinctive alpine character of the Merano region. The grapes come from vineyards in Algund, Lana, Marling, Merano and Schenna, situated between 280 and 450 metres above sea level, where humus-rich, slightly loamy sandy soils over granite and gneiss provide ideal conditions for balanced ripening. The combination of different vineyard elevations creates a harmonious balance of freshness and fruit expression. After a period of cold maceration, the grapes are gently processed and fermented in small temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is avoided, and the wine matures on its fine lees for five months, gaining additional elegance and harmony. In the glass, it displays a lively straw-yellow colour with greenish reflections. The bouquet is defined by exotic fruit aromas of banana and pineapple, complemented by notes of ripe apple. On the palate, it is harmonious, fresh and pleasantly smooth, supported by a balanced structure and lively acidity. The elegant and persistent finish highlights the inviting character of this versatile Alto Adige white wine.
