The Pinot Blanc Riserva DOC Acapella 2020 is one of the flagship wines of Klosterhof Winery and originates from the Trifall and Bareit vineyard sites above Caldaro. The vineyards lie between 400 and 450 metres above sea level on fossil-rich calcareous soils that contribute distinctive minerality and depth. Only the smallest and loosest grape clusters are selected for this Riserva, harvested by hand through multiple picking passes. Following separate vinification of the individual vineyard parcels, fermentation and malolactic conversion take place in small oak barrels. The wine then matures on its lees for twelve months with regular bâtonnage, followed by an additional twelve months of bottle ageing. This extended maturation process gives the Riserva greater complexity, structure and ageing potential.
The name Acapella comes from the noble Acapella rose growing alongside the vineyard rows. Its fruity fragrance and elegant blossom inspired the name of the wine.
In the glass, the Pinot Blanc is layered and refined. The bouquet reveals ripe apple aromas complemented by subtle smoky oak nuances. On the palate, it is creamy and persistent, showing fine minerality, hints of ripe tropical fruit and a long, harmonious finish.
