The Plantaditsch Kalterersee Classico Superiore 2024 from Klosterhof Estate is one of the winery’s most distinctive wines. The grapes come from the Plantaditsch vineyard, located above Lake Caldaro at around 380 metres above sea level. Sandy soils enriched with limestone gravel deposits create ideal conditions for the balanced growth of the estate’s old Vernatsch vines.
The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected before vinification. Following a temperature-controlled fermentation with intensive skin contact, the wine continues its maturation in large wooden casks. It is then aged for twelve months in small French oak barrels, gaining additional depth, structure and complexity. After a further period of bottle ageing, the wine is released for sale.
In the glass, it displays a bright ruby-red colour. The bouquet offers aromas of ripe red berries, complemented by delicate bitter notes and subtle hints of oak. On the palate, it is juicy, harmonious and persistent, supported by a balanced structure and an elegant finish that highlights its regional character.
