The Sant’Antimo Rosso DOC Nearco 2021 by Col d’Orcia is a characterful organic red wine from Montalcino, combining the elegance of international grape varieties with the unique terroir of southern Tuscany. Col d’Orcia is one of the region’s most renowned estates and is fully organically certified. The south-facing vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate, giving the wine impressive ripeness, structure, and harmony. Nearco is vinified from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. In Montalcino, these grape varieties find ideal conditions on the warm, well-ventilated slopes. Merlot contributes softness and generous fruit, Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and depth, while Syrah brings spicy and slightly peppery aromatic nuances. In this region, the result is an elegant and distinctly terroir-driven Super Tuscan style. In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red with violet reflections. The nose reveals ripe blackcurrant, cherry, and plum, accompanied by fine notes of vanilla, clove, and dark spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, harmonious, and structured, with ripe tannins, juicy fruit, and a long, finely spiced finish.
